Whale freed after becoming trapped in shark nets off Gold Coast

A whale has been freed from shark nets in waters off the Gold Coast.

A rescue operation was launched after beachgoers at Surfers Paradise reportedly saw the juvenile humpback stuck in the nets.

Boating and fisheries officers freed the whale, which could be seen swimming away with its mother on Tuesday afternoon.
