Guns found in car used to ram Qld police

Two men who rammed a police car and tried to run down officers had a cache of stolen guns in their vehicle when they were finally arrested north of Townsville.

Police tried to stop a stolen car that was being driven erratically at Helens Hill about 7am on Monday.

But the driver sped towards their police car and rammed it, and attempted to run down the officers before taking off.

Officers intercepted the car a short time later and arrested the pair, discovering a cache of stolen weapons during a search of the vehicle.

Charges are yet to be laid.
