Rail link made Qld flooding worse: report

A preliminary investigation has found a new rail link did exacerbate recent flooding north of Brisbane.

The report was commissioned by a law firm advising more than a dozen Deception Bay residents, whose homes were among the 100-odd properties damaged in floods earlier this month.

Some claim the floods were compounded by construction on the Moreton Bay Rail Link.

The hydrological expert's initial observations suggest an embankment and concrete barriers on Anzac Avenue disrupted typical flood patterns, Shine Lawyers' George Newhouse said.

"In other words ... these works choked the exit or the escape of the water," Mr Newhouse told AAP.

"The hypothesis is that the embankment may have reduced the flood conveyance capacity of the normal drainage (route)."

The legal firm is now appealing for residents to come forward with first-hand accounts, pictures and videos to supplement these observations, he said.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Transport Minister Jackie Trad said she had not received a copy of the preliminary report.

The government commissioned it's own 12-week investigation on May 5.
