RAAF to fly G20 rehearsals over Brisbane

Fighter aircraft will fly over the Brisbane CBD in the next two days as part of rehearsals for the G20 leaders summit.

RAAF planes will be used during the weekend meeting to intercept aircraft not permitted in the restricted area.

Australian Defence Force Commander Major General Stuart Smith says the rehearsal is about familiarising pilots with the airspace.

The defence force has been training for the G20 for the past 18 months.

Its contribution includes Black Hawk helicopters, fighter jets, 910 soldiers and counter-terrorism forces.

The aircraft will run a rehearsal over Brisbane on Tuesday and Wednesday.
