Qld lags with jobless rate stuck at 6.3pct

Queensland had the second highest unemployment rate in country in April, despite almost 10,000 people finding work in the state.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics figures show the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was stuck at 6.3 per cent in the month, putting it second highest behind South Australia's 7.3 per cent rate.

Nationally, the jobless rate fell to 5.7 per cent, from 5.9 per cent, in the month led by falls in Western Australia and NSW.

Almost 10,000 jobs were added to Queensland's economy during the month, but this was offset by an increase in the number of people looking for work.
