Queensland Rail crewman dies on shift

A Queensland Rail trackwork crewman has been killed after being hit by a passenger train as he worked a late night maintenance shift in Brisbane.

Queensland Rail chief executive officer Nick Easy on Tuesday morning expressed his sympathies to the man's family and friends.

He said QR was working with investigators, including the Rail Regulator, to examine the cause of the incident at Petrie at 10.30pm on Monday.

Workplace Health and Safety are also investigating the death.
