Fairfax Radio shock jock Alan Jones on receiving notification of Premier Campbell Newman's defamation suit against him:

"You remain a bit of a political novice if you think that's the way to win an election or to silence people, you need to actually think again, but thanks for writing."

Premier Campbell Newman on whether he'll sue media organisations that have reported Mr Jones' claims:

"I'm not a lawyer, you'll have to go and ask your lawyers."

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk on Newman suing Jones:

"Operation boring is over, here we go, back to the fights, back to the fights, the disfunction that we have seen, the chaos, over the last three years."

Federal MP Clive Palmer offering to fund Jones' defence against Mr Newman:

"He has my financial support for any legal action brought against him by the premier."
