Qld woman killed in car crash during storm

A woman has been killed in a car crash during a storm that swept across the northern Sunshine Coast.

Police began to receive calls about a tree that had fallen across the Bruce Highway, north of Pomona, just before 6pm (AEST) Wednesday.

Officers arrived to find two cars had collided and a 59-year-old woman from Gympie was killed.

The region was battered by two storm cells, with reports of hailstones the size of golf balls and heavy rain.
