Young woman dies in outback Qld crash

A young woman has died after being struck by a truck on a highway near Mount Isa in northwest Queensland.
Police say the crash happened on the Barkly Highway about five kilometres east of the outback town on Friday morning.
The 23-year-old pedestrian died at the scene.

Her death comes after an elderly woman also died in a single-vehicle accident in far north Queensland when her car crashed into a culvert.
The 76-year-old was driving along the Rossville-Bloomfield Road, just south of Cooktown, at around 1pm on Thursday when her car left the road and hit the culvert.
