Qld woman attacked with rock and stick

A man will front a Queensland court accused of bashing a woman with a rock and a stick in a violent attack in a laneway.

The 23-year-old victim suffered serious wounds, including cuts to her head and face and possible facial and arm fractures, in the attack on Mornington Island.

Police found her in the laneway about 5pm (AEST) on Tuesday. She's been flown to Mount Isa Base Hospital.

A 25-year-old man, who is known to the woman, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and will face the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
