Qld ute driver dies following truck crash

A 42-year-old man has died after his ute collided with a truck in far north Queensland.

The Captain Cook Highway at Clifton Beach, north of Cairns, was closed in both directions for several hours on Friday following the crash, which occurred about 12.20pm.

The 42-year-old Kewarra Beach man was taken to Cairns Base Hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

The 50-year-old male driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
