Qld man charged over truck driver assault

A Sunshine Coast man has been charged after he was caught on camera allegedly assaulting and abusing a tow-truck driver.

The 48-year-old driver from Queensland company Clayton's Towing was allegedly attacked at Caboolture on February 8, after he pulled over on Burnett Lane and a younger man jumped out of another car that had also stopped.

The company released screen shots from dash-cam footage of the incident and posted them on Facebook this week, urging anyone who knew the man to contact authorities.

"This man went into a severe rage episode, turning his vehicle towards our truck, cracking the windscreen, kicking the door in and assaulting our staff member through the driver window," the company alleged.

The actual footage was released by police on Wednesday afternoon, after the company said it had been "inundated" with messages about the culprit's identity.

A 27-year-old Caboolture man was on Thursday charged with one count each of common assault, wilful damage and enter premises to commit indictable offence.

He will appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on March 24.

Police said the driver was not physically injured, despite the video showing the younger man throwing punches at him through the truck's window.
