Qld told to stop shifting childcare costs

The Queensland government needs to chip in more funding for childcare and stop shifting the responsibility onto its federal counterparts, social services minister Scott Morrison says.

The minister has told a conference of more than 1000 early childhood educators a federation review process is underway, which he says will put pressure on states such as Queensland and NSW to do more for their respective childcare systems.

"In NSW and Queensland, there's a lot of cost-shifting going to the federal government (and) really, there needs to be a much stronger level of base level support coming out of those states," Mr Morrison said.
