Qld soldier jailed over possum bashing

A north Queensland soldier who smashed a possum on a concrete floor and sent pictures of the bloodied animal to numerous people has been jailed for two months.

Sapper Hayden Peter Archer, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday, after he injured the animal at the Townsville army barracks in April last year.

It's not known whether the possum survived its injuries after being released by Archer.
