WHAT IS QUEENSLAND'S ONE-PUNCH DEATH LAW?
- A specific crime when a person causes someone's death by unlawfully striking their head or neck
- Unlawful Striking Causing Death carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment

- The law was passed in 2014 by the former Liberal National Party government
- It was part of that government's Safe Night Out alcohol management strategy
- The change came after a series of violent, alcohol-related deaths in the state, including two Sunshine Coast men who died in fights outside drinking venues in 2014.
