Queensland roo taken to zoo after being shot through skull with arrow

A Queensland kangaroo is lucky to be alive after being shot through the head with an arrow.

The animal was spotted last week with the weapon lodged through its head around Toorbul on the Sunshine Coast.

An RSPCA rescue team sent to retrieve it found the arrow had completely pierced the roo's skull and narrowly missed the eye.

Last week, footage sent to 9NEWS by a Toorbul resident showed the animal taking its ease on the town's esplanade.

Despite the injury it managed to continue to elude captors until today.
