Brock Prime has long road ahead: family

The family of a man critically injured in an alleged road rage attack on a Queensland motorway say he has a long road to recovery ahead.

Brock Prime was woken from a medically induced coma on Thursday, two weeks after a prosecutor told a court he may die.

A photo of the 29-year-old tradie with a partially shaved head and tubes coming from his nose was added to his Instagram account.

His family released a statement on Friday confirming he remained in the Intensive Care Unit.

"We'd ask the media to respect our privacy while we concentrate our efforts on helping Brock to recover," they said.

"We are hopeful that he will be able to tell his own story in his own words when he's ready."

The family also thanked hospital staff and the wider community for their support.

"From simple things like mowing our lawn, to the meals showing up in our freezer to the fundraisers being thrown, it's all been incredible," they said.

"We're especially grateful to the Mudgeeraba Redbacks Football Club and Brock's concreting family."

Mr Prime has been in hospital since the incident, which occurred on the M1 near Yatala on February 24.

Ryan Hallifax, 28, Jonathan Lawrence, 26, and Jordan Baklas, 27, have since faced court charged with grievous bodily harm.

All three matters are set to return to court on May 2.
