Qld report scathing of bikie crackdown

A focus on bikie gangs has allowed child exploitation and financial crime to flourish in Queensland, an inquiry has found.

The scathing report into organised crime will probably prove another nail in the coffin of the state's controversial bikie laws.

The Queensland Organised Crime Commission of Inquiry report published on Friday found the Newman government's strong focus on criminal bikie gangs over the past two years allowed most other kinds of crime to develop.

Bikie crime accounted for just 0.52 per cent of all criminal activity in the state over almost two years to June 2015.

The Labor government is reviewing the former government's controversial anti-bikie Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment (VLAD) laws with the stated aim of repealing and replacing them.

In a move expected to add impetus to Labor's intentions, the organised crime report will be handed to the VLAD law review panel.

Shadow attorney-general Ian Walker said the Liberal National Party made no apologies for going after criminal gangs, and blamed police for the unbalanced allocation of resources.
