Qld Racing bureaucrat facing fraud charges

Former senior Queensland racing bureaucrat Bill Shuck has briefly faced court over allegations he was involved in the fraudulent awarding of contracts.

Shuck, 52, a former Racing Queensland procurement officer, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with five counts of misconduct in public office and five of fraud.

It's alleged he and Cashmere contractor Wayne Francis Solomon, also known as Wayne Francis Innes, misused information and rorted tendering systems between January 2014 and November 2015 to gain a financial benefit for Innes.

According to court documents, these included upgrades at the Gympie Racetrack and Brisbane's Eagle Farm.

Shuck is alleged to have provided Solomon with a competitor's quote, and Solomon is accused of forging quotes.

Solomon, 57, also appeared in court on Wednesday on similar charges, as well as an additional six counts of forgery and uttering.

Both men were granted bail on the condition they have no contact with each other.

Their matter was adjourned until June 26.
