A harness racing driver who allegedly lied about race fixing to the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission has become the first person to be charged as a result of the watchdog's coercive hearing process.

When racing participants are called to the investigative hearings the Racing Integrity Act compels them to provide truthful evidence.

The 36-year-old Lockyer Valley man was charged with perjury and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 26.
