Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk will spend five days in Japan to sign-off on multi-million dollar mining and manufacturing deals with the state's second largest trading partner.

Ms Palaszczuk's trip will include a meeting with corporation JFE Steel in a bid to secure the go-ahead for the Byerwen Coal Project, a new coking-coal mine 140km west of Mackay.

The premier will return to Brisbane on Friday for a Cabinet meeting.
