Qld policeman charged with drink driving

A Queensland policeman has been stood down from official duty after being charged with drink driving.

The 49-year-old constable from the south-east region is being investigated over the drink-driving incident while off-duty on January 13 as well as other work-related matters.

He was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on the Gold Coast on February 2.

"In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have an undertaking to inform the public when an officer faces disciplinary processes involving stand down or suspension," a Queensland police statement said.
