Queensland Police Union fury over hacking charges

Queensland's police union says it's a disgrace that the police service went after an officer who tried to help a domestic violence victim.

Union president Ian Leavers says a respected, veteran officer from Gatton was cleared of computer hacking charges after he sent confidential information to a woman about her violent ex-partner when she called, expressing fears for her safety.

"This one is an absolute disgrace. It has destroyed a hard working detective of nearly 30 years who was very well respected within his community," Mr Leavers has told the ABC.
