Qld police detonate suspicious device

Queensland police have detonated a suspicious device several hours after it was found in a Gladstone laneway.
The device was discovered at 1pm on Friday and police declared an emergency situation at 6.35pm, closing part of a nearby street.
They then destroyed the device with a controlled explosion.
