Death certificate sought in fentanyl case

Lawyers representing a personal trainer accused of causing the death of a Gold Coast man are seeking a copy of the deceased's death certificate.

Christopher William Walmsley, 21, has been charged with supplying and possessing dangerous drugs after his client Michael Clayton died in April after allegedly using a fentanyl patch supplied by Walmsley.

At a brief mention of his matter in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Walmsley's lawyer said they were still seeking a copy of the death certificate and three witness statements.

The matter has been adjourned until October 15.
