Qld parents charged with murder, torture

The parents of a Brisbane toddler who died from severe burns to the lower half of her body have been charged with her murder and torture.

Maddilyn-Rose Stokes, who would have turned three this month, died in hospital after paramedics found her unconscious at her family's Northgate townhouse last month.

Police have charged her 30-year-old father and 23-year-old mother with murder and torture.

Detective Inspector Tim Trezise said Maddilyn-Rose had suffered severe burns stretching from her lower back to her feet.

He said her parents did not seek help for several days and at the time they blamed her injuries on hot bath water.

The couple will face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
