Qld 'No body no parole' laws to be debated

"No body no parole" laws are set to be debated by the Queensland Parliament on Wednesday.

The legislation is designed to ensure murderers who haven't identified the location of their victims' bodies won't be released without serving maximum time.

The Liberal National Party opposition held up the passage of broader parole reforms in May to introduce their own "No body, no parole" bill.

But Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath claimed that legislation was "sloppy" and had to be reworked so it could be properly implemented.

The "No body, no parole" laws were a key recommendation of the Sofronoff Review into the state's parole system.

It was sparked by the killing of 81-year-old grandmother Elizabeth Kippin in her Townsville home in July 2016, allegedly by a man who was released on parole hours earlier.
