Qld murder accused walks free on bail

A man accused of helping carry out a drug-related murder will walk free from prison on bail amid concerns about the credibility of a key witness.

Stephen Dale Renwick, 39, was one of two men charged in the past fortnight with murdering Mackay man Timothy John Pullen in April 2012.

A third man was charged with Mr Pullen's murder in 2013.

The 34-year-old's body has never been found and police allege he may have been killed over a $30,000 drug debt.

A Brisbane Supreme Court judge granted Renwick bail with a $175,000 surety on Monday, citing questions about the strength of the Crown case.

Prosecutors allege Renwick was among a group of men who went to a unit where Mr Pullen was staying and then murdered him at an unknown location.

Four men were allegedly seen bundling him into a car.

Blood was found splattered in the unit and it's alleged a knife or sharp object was used.

Renwick was initially charged with being an accessory to murder.

However the charge was upgraded after a woman who was at the unit said he was among the group that took Mr Pullen.

The woman, Keira Jeanette McKay, recently pleaded guilty to Mr Pullen's manslaughter and was given early parole eligibility.

Defence barrister John Jacob said there were "clear weaknesses" in Ms McKay' evidence and Justice Peter Applegarth agreed.

Renwick will face a committal hearing at a later date along with murder co-accused Zane Tray Lincoln and Benjamin Francis Graeme Oakley.

They will be joined by a fourth man, Luke Shayne Kister, who has been charged with being an accessory to Mr Pullen's murder.
