Qld mum remanded over toddler deaths

A southeast Queensland mother accused of murdering her two daughters by leaving them in a hot car parked outside their home will remain behind bars for Christmas.

Toddlers Darcey-Helen, two, and Chloe-Ann, one, died inside a black station wagon parked across the front yard of their family home in Logan, south of Brisbane, in November.

Kerri-Ann Conley, 27, did not appear as her two counts of murder were adjourned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday for mention on March 11.

Paramedics were called to the family home on November 23 but could not revive the sisters.

The girls were declared dead at the scene and police say they showed signs of being exposed to extreme heat.

Conley is the first person to be charged under the state's expanded definition of murder, which includes reckless indifference to human life.

She was not required to enter a plea.
