Qld MP to be admonished in parliament

A Liberal National Party MP will have to stand up in Queensland parliament while Speaker Peter Wellington berates her for contempt.

Parliament's ethics committee on Wednesday tabled a report finding Warrego MP Ann Leahy disclosed secret committee business and then misled parliament when questioned about it.

The committee has recommended Ms Leahy not be able to serve on the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Commission (PCCC) committee for the rest of this parliamentary term and not serve on any other committees for six months.

It'll mean a $11,715 pay cut, bringing her back to the MP base salary of $151,425 for the period.

The committee has also recommended the Speaker admonish Ms Leahy while she stands to "appropriately address the gravity of the conduct in deliberately misleading both the PCCC and the ethics committee".

That's expected to happen on Thursday.

The last time an MP was admonished by the Speaker in parliament was in 1999.
