Qld minister won't check AWU membership

Queensland Health Minister Cameron Dick has no plan to check if his Australian Workers Union membership presents a conflict of interest with his parliamentary role.

At least two cabinet members, Energy and Water Supply Minister Mark Bailey and Police Minister Jo-Ann Miller, have sought advice from the Integrity Commissioner about their union membership.

Mr Bailey quit the Electrical Trades Union after being advised his role as minister presented a conflict of interest.

But Mr Dick refuses to check if there's anything of concern about his AWU membership.

"No I don't intend to do that," he told AAP.

Despite the AWU representing a large number of Queensland Health workers, Mr Dick has brushed off concerns about any potential conflict of interest.

"I don't believe that it presents any sort conflict of interest, real or perceived, in the execution of my duties as a minister," he added.
