Qld masseur, 80, in court on rape charge

An elderly Queensland masseur charged with attacking customers at his market massage stall has fronted court.

The 80-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, is facing one rape charge and eight counts of indecent assault.

They relate to eight alleged incidents that took place at his stall at the Sunshine Coast farmers' market between 2011 and August this year.

He was charged with rape and two counts of indecent assault earlier this month, but further charges were laid after more women came forward.

On Wednesday, the man appeared briefly in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court where the case was adjourned until November 17.

His bail conditions include that he not visit certain areas, including two Queensland markets, and that he not work as a masseur or contact his alleged victims.

Police are continuing to urge any other women who may have been inappropriately dealt with during massages at Sunshine Coast markets to come forward.
