Qld man takes police on a run

A Queensland driver has gone to extraordinary lengths to avoid police, dodging tyre spikes and damaging a squad car before fleeing on foot.

But while the 36-year-old Hemmant man led police on a lengthy chase on the D'Anguilar Highway in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, he couldn't outrun officers once he was finally stopped.

He clipped a police car and avoided two sets of tyre spikes but was eventually thwarted by the third set of spikes on Tuesday afternoon.

He was charged with six offences and is due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
