Qld man stabbed while waiting in car

A man has been stabbed in his car as he waited outside a Cairns unit block.

Police say a 48-year-old man entered the 39-year-old's car and stabbed him in the shoulder around 10.15pm on Wednesday.

Paramedics treated the injured man at another Cairns address after a friend drove him away from the scene of the alleged stabbing.

He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The older man is due to face the Cairns Magistrate Court charged with unlawful wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm on Thursday.

It's believed the men are known to each other.
