Qld man slashed, bashed after opening door
AAP
A Townsville man has been bashed with a lump of timber and slashed with a knife after going to investigate noises in his front yard.
Police say the victim was attacked after he opened the door of his Kirwan home about 1am on Monday. A man hit him in the head with a piece of timber, before a second male offender slashed him three times across the torso.
The 33-year-old victim managed to retreat and close the door, but police say his two attackers and a woman who was with them then tried to force their way inside.
