Qld man's legs crushed by tree harvester

A man is in a serious condition after his legs were crushed by a tree harvester in Queensland's Wide Bay region.

The 47-year-old was working at a timber plantation west of Hervey Bay when he got stuck in the logging machine around on Friday morning, emergency services say.

The Fraser Coast Chronicle newspaper reports the man was pulled free by workmates.

He was airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a serious but stable condition with multiple leg fractures.

Workplace Health and Safety inspectors are going to the scene.
