Qld man hands himself in for hit-and-run

A Queensland man has been charged over a suspected hit-and-run death in the Darling Downs.

The 28-year-old man from Goombungee handed himself in to Oakey police on Tuesday and was later charged with failing to obtain medical aid to an injured person and showing a callous disregard for their needs.

A pedestrian was found dead on Hamlyn Road at Oakey at 4.45am on Monday.

The 28-year-old will appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on January 4.
