Qld man dies after showground bashing

A man has died in hospital almost a week after being found unconscious at a far north Queensland rodeo showground.

The 35-year-old Ayr man had been in a critical condition since July 10 after being bashed at the Mareeba Rodeo Grounds, Kerribee Park, but died on Monday night.

A 23-year-old Hillcrest man and 26-year-old Beenleigh man were both charged with grievous bodily harm, which is expected to be upgraded later on Tuesday.
