Qld man charged with assaulting police

A Queensland man accused of repeatedly punching a police officer in the face then spitting on another is set to appear in court.

Police were called to break up a large fight in Redbank, Ipswich, late on Saturday night, and a man at the scene allegedly attacked a constable, punching him in the face and head repeatedly.

The man was arrested and then spat on another officer from the back of the police car, police say.

Both officers are receiving medical treatment.

The 25-year-old Redbank man has been charged with two counts of seriously assaulting police and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on March 22.
