Qld man charged over violent attack

A Gold Coast man has been charged over a violent attack on two Korean students in which he allegedly kicked one of them in the head.

The students were sitting outside a Southport mall karaoke bar when they were approached by two men on Tuesday night.

CCTV footage shows one of the men launching a kick to head of one of the students, knocking him unconscious.

The two are also seen rummaging through his pockets, stealing his wallet and phone.

Detective Inspector Procter described the attack as "very sickening".

A 26-year-old Labrador man turned himself into police on Thursday afternoon and has been charged with armed robbery and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.

Police say investigations are continuing.
