Qld man charged over toilet assault

A Queensland man who allegedly left an 84-year-old man unconscious after robbing him in a shopping centre toilet has been charged.

Police released security camera footage of the suspect and called for help from the public after the victim was found in the toilets of the Chermside centre on Thursday afternoon.

He had been assaulted, had his wallet and watch stolen, and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives on Saturday announced a 22-year-old man from Beerwah, on the Sunshine Coast, had been charged over the incident and would appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court.

He will face one count of robbery with violence, seven counts of fraud and one count of possessing dangerous drugs.
