Qld man charged over taxi assault

A man has been charged with assault after allegedly punching a taxi driver who had driven him to a bottle shop in Townsville.

It's alleged the 29-year-old man became abusive when the male driver dropped him and two friends off at the liquor store in Mundingburra about 9.40pm on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old driver was treated at the scene for facial injuries, with his alleged attacker to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
