Qld man charged for sabotaging fire truck

A man armed with a knife and a metal bar tried to sabotage a fire truck at a bushfire in south east Queensland.

The 27-year-old was spotted at the rear of the fire truck in Augustine Heights, near Ipswich on Thursday, police said.

When approached by police he was found to be armed with a knife and a metal bar.

He's been charged with possessing a knife and interfering with a fire apparatus and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on December 15.

Investigations continue into the cause of the fire.
