Qld man charged after shooting dog

A 46-year-old man will face court in far north Queensland after threatening a man and woman with a rifle before shooting their dog.
Police allege the 46-year-old, who created a disturbance at a Cooktown residence with two other men, pointed the gun at the couple before discharging a number of rounds, one of which struck the dog.
The dog's injury is not life threatening.

The man is set to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with acts intended to maim, threatening violence, two counts of common assault and one count of injuring animals.
