A 41-year-old man will face court in Queensland over the tense three-hour siege at Logan when a three-week-old baby was taken hostage and threatened with knives.

Specialist police were forced to smash their way into a Kingston home on Thursday morning and arrest him, after the man barricaded himself in a bedroom with the baby following what was reported to be a "domestic situation" with a woman at the house.

They quickly removed the baby from the room before tasering and arresting the man.

He has been charged with two counts of threatening violence and one count each of stalking, burglary, child stealing, common assault wilful damage, possession of a drug utensil and obstruct police.

The man is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
