Qld granny banned from contacting grandson

A Queensland grandmother charged with child stealing for allegedly fleeing to NSW with her grandson won't be able to contact him under bail conditions.

The 56-year-old had spent four nights in custody after being found at Wauchope, near Port Macquarie, last Tuesday and extradited to Brisbane where she was charged on Friday.

Police allege she took the boy from Townsville and moved south in March.

In an attempt to elude investigators, the woman had been wrapping her mobile phone in alfoil, had given her grandson disguise glasses and a fake name, court documents show.

Following hearings at Brisbane Magistrates Court, she was granted conditional bail under which she can't contact her seven-year-old grandson.

She was also ordered to report to police daily and wear a tracking device.

The child has been living with his father since his grandmother was arrested.

She is due to appear before Townsville Magistrates Court in June.
