Qld govt to fund literary awards again

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced her government will begin funding the state's literary awards again.

The previous Liberal National Party (LNP) government controversially stopped funding the awards as part of a cost-cutting drive in one of its first acts after sweeping to power in the 2012 election.

But Ms Palaszczuk, who is also the arts minister, has quickly moved to reinstate them after forming government in February.
