Qld govt rejects concern on teachers union

Queensland's education minister has brushed off concerns the Queensland Teachers Union has too much power over policy and the administration of schools.

Kate Jones was undeterred by concerns the government has ticked off most of a wish list given to it by the Queensland Teachers Union, which represents 90 per cent of teachers, and the union had been given the power to vote down applications by state schools to become Independent Public Schools.

"I want to ensure that our teachers are coming with us to deliver what we need to in regards to up-skilling our staff and also providing cutting edge education here in Queensland," she said.
