Qld govt in legal bid for Nuttall's super

The Queensland government has lodged court documents targeting disgraced MP Gordon Nuttall's superannuation.

Crown lawyers lodged the paperwork in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

A government spokesperson confirmed the application related to the former minister's superannuation fund.

It's understood the application is to recoup the government's super fund contributions to Nuttall who was released on parole in July last year, having served six years in jail for corruption.

It's believed Nuttall's nest egg contains up to $1.2 million, partly funded by taxpayers.

"Given it's before the court we won't be commenting any further," a government spokesperson told AAP.

The matter is scheduled for a directions hearing on August 4.

Nuttall, who walked out of the low-security Palen Creek Correctional Centre a year ago, received more than $500,000 in corrupt payments from two businessmen when he was a member of the Beattie government.

He helped those paying him to secure lucrative government contracts.

Nuttall was jailed for seven years in 2009 for 36 counts of receiving secret commissions.

A year later he was given another seven years for perjury and corruption but was granted parole in July, 2015.

He was released under strict conditions, including that he live with his daughter and undergo drug and alcohol testing.

His parole conditions include a ban on speaking to the media.
