Queensland's deputy premier says it was right for another minister's driver to be stood down for misusing a government car for his own campaign activities.

Disability Services Minister Coralee O'Rourke's driver, Danny Donohue, who is running for Ipswich City Council, has been stood down pending an investigation into the allegations.

"The premier and the minister acted decisively on this and they have stood the driver down pending an investigation and that is the right thing to do," Deputy Premier Jackie Trad said on Thursday.
